The Grenville Park Co-operative Housing Association Limited was established in 1946 to develop a residential community on a 66 acre farm located more than a mile from the then limits of the City of Kingston. The founding members wanted rural surroundings and spacious lots on which to live and raise their families. To do this at minimal cost and to provide a continuing organization for maintaining the common lands and facilities, the building scheme was developed cooperatively. A detailed history of Grenville Park can be found here.
The present subdivision consists of 56 single family dwellings. These homes are set along tree lined streets and surrounded by 12 ½ acres of parkland, which are commonly owned and maintained by the Association. The members of the Association are the 56 home owners, each having one share of its capital stock, which is purchased for $100 at the time of the purchase of the home.
In 2001 Grenville Park was awarded first prize in the City of Kingston’s inaugural “Livable Cities Design Award”, and in 2003 received a “Communities in Bloom” award for the natural environment. Our members, both past and present have worked hard to achieve these awards and to make Grenville Park a desirable community to live in.
The 2024 Board of Directors is comprised of the following Grenville Park members: Steve Gammon (President), Kathy Morrocco (Secretary), Ryan Moore (Treasurer), Peter Ginn, Erin York, Deb Berry, Allyson Gilchrist.
